Stephen Barotta is the incoming Chair of the McKinney Sunset Rotary Club, a satellite of the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club.  Satellite clubs do not have a President, so their leader is known as a "Chair."  The satellite club is affiliated with a parent club until the new club has enough members to request a charter from Rotary International to be a stand-alone club. The McKinney Sunset Rotary Club began meeting in June 2014 with five Rotarians from other clubs along with four new members.
Chairman Stephen Barotta has been a member of the McKinney Sunset Rotary Club for three years.  He stepped up as the Chair-Elect when another member took a job in another city and was no longer available to serve.  Stephen has served as the Club Service Director, Vocational Service Director and the Bulletin Editor.  He also serves as the Co-Chair of the Sunset Rotary Flag Team to install and prep flag leases for the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club.  The flag lease program is the major fundraising activity for both clubs.

Stephen's honors in McKinney Sunset Rotary Club include "Rotarian of the Year" for 2017-18 and two years perfect attendance.  He is also a Paul Harris Fellow Sustaining Member.  Stephen's emphasis is on "service above self" and you will find him participating in the various service projects adopted by the McKinney Sunset Rotary Club.  The main service projects include the Collin County History Museum, Shiloh Place, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Challenge Air and Crape Myrtle Trails in addition to the flag lease program.

Stephen is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.  He is retired as an IBM Senior Systems Engineer.  He was married to Lana Barotta, now deceased, and the couple has two adult married daughters, and seven grandchildren.

Stephen's goals for the McKinney Sunset Rotary Club include an increase in membership and attendance, an increase in the number of service projects, and an increase in fundraising.  The McKinney Sunset Rotary Club meets the first Thursday of each month at the Hampton Inn, 2800 North Central Expressway, McKinney, TX 75069, at 5:30 PM; and on the third Thursday of each month for a "happy hour" at a local pub or restaurant from 5:30 - 6:30 PM (to be decided).  Watch for updates on their Facebook page at McKinney Sunset Rotary Club and MeetUp.

When you see Stephen, give him best wishes for a successful year as the Chair of McKinney Sunset Rotary Club!
