Texas History of Fun Facts.
Texas has experienced the most number of tornadoes since 1950. On average, Texas experiences 120 tornadoes a year. A tornado can roar along as fast as 300 miles an hour. Kansas stands second on the list.

The Texas Rangers is the oldest statewide law enforcement agency in the U.S. It was established in 1823.

Armadillos are mammals that wear shells. Armadillo in Spanish means “little armored one”. The mammal has bony plates that cover the back, head, legs, and tail of most of these creatures. Out of the 20 varieties of armadillos, only one lives in the United States. The mammal can be found throughout Texas except in the Trans-Pecos. The shell on their bodies acts like armor and provides protection from predators.

You and your guest on Wednesday, June 29th beginning at 5:30 to 7:00 PM  are invited to the new officers and directors' installation. The ceremony will be held at The Heard Museum at 1 Nature Pl., McKinney, TX 75069 starting with a light happy hour menu.

THE PROGRAM THIS WEEK

Our program this week will feature Steve Deffibaugh a

Princeton resident Steve Deffibaugh was a 31-year-old crime scene investigator with the Collin County Sheriff’s Department when he was paged that night in 1980. When he called to check-in, he was told it was a homicide, so he quickly checked his camera and film supply and headed out the door.

Deffibaugh said, as an investigator, his typical approach was to shoot his way in and shoot his way out of a crime scene with his camera. Check this crime scene out...

The loving Christian mom who became an axe murderer: Inside twisted tale of Candy Montgomery who butchered a friend on Friday the 13th after having an affair with her husband -
  • Candy Montgomery killed her friend Betty Gore with an axe on Friday, June 13, 1980, in their hometown of Wylie, Texas
  • The housewife struck up a  friendship with Betty at church before embarking on a months-long affair with her husband Allan Gore
  • Shortly after Candy and Allan called off the affair, Betty was found butchered in the utility room in her home while her infant daughter was in her crib
  • Candy was charged with murder and released on bail with her church's support
  • During her trial, she claimed Betty had confronted her about the affair and had attacked her with the axe, forcing her to retaliate in self-defense
  • Candy delivered 41 blows to Betty's body, 40 of which were done while her heart was still beating, but she insisted she didn't mean to kill her
  • A psychiatrist and clinical hypnotist determined that Candy suffered from childhood trauma that had triggered her rage as an adult
  • Despite all of the evidence against her, she was found not guilty of murder
  • Elizabeth Olsen and Elisabeth Moss are slated to play Candy in two different true-crime series, HBO Max's 'Love and Death' and Hulu's 'Candy,' respectively
