I remember my first job out of college my manager telling me that sometimes the smartest thing you can say is not to say anything at all. We had just left a meeting that lasted much longer than it should have because everyone seemed to have something to add, yet in the end we had not accomplished anything other than killing the afternoon. That was some of the best advice I ever got, people don't need to hear what has already been said just so you can be heard.
