Our Club meeting this week is a program on the Cotton Grove Project presented by Celeste Cox, Executive Director of the McKinney Habitate for Humanity.
Good health care should be everyone’s right, yet some 400 million people in the world cannot afford or don’t have access to basic health care. Disease results in misery, pain and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important.
Rotary's top priority in fighting disease is the eradication of polio, but Rotary also supports many activities that reduce the causes and effects of other diseases through education and equipping communities to help stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria, strengthening health care systems, expanding medical services, provision of medical equipment, and improving access to health services.

We all know about the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe, but do you know how that came about?
In an old Norse legend, Frigga, the goddess of love, had a son named Balder, who was the god of innocence and light. To protect him, Frigga demanded that all creatures - and even inanimate objects - swear an oath, not to harm him, but she forgot to include mistletoe. Loki, the god of evil and destruction, learned of this and made an arrow from the sprig of mistletoe.
Celeste Cox, Executive Director of the McKinney Habitat for Humanity will share an update on the 'Cotton Grove Project' which is
