Joe Jaynes will be our speaker this week and will be speaking to us about Jimmy Carter. Joe began his career as a professor of history at Collin College. He later served for sixteen years as Collin County Commissioner. Since leaving office Joe has returned to Collin College and teaches American history at the McKinney Campus.
Constable Shane Williams, Collin County Precinct 1, was the program speaker at McKinney Sunset Rotary on September 6. He was also presented the club’s annual Vocational Service Award by Stephen Barotta, Vocational Service Director.
The Vocational Service award is given annually to a community public servant or an employee of a non-profit organization who represents their vocation in accordance of the ideals and ethical standards of Rotary.
Recipients of the award are nominated by club members who have direct knowledge of the person’s occupation, work setting and personal qualities. The award is intended to honor representatives of vital occupations in our community who are often unsung heroes.
Constable Williams is a member of the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club. He is married to Dawn who is a public school teacher, and the family resides in Anna. Congratulations to Constable Shane Williams!
