Calendar Year: Begins July 1 with a new Rotary International President and new club officers.

Theme: Chosen by current Rotary International President. This year; Rotary Connects the World.

Rotary Six Areas of Focus:
  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

Satellite Club: A Satellite Rotary Club is an officially sanctioned club by Rotary International under the charter of a parent club, which in our case is the Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise. A Satellite Rotary Club will have its own service projects and fund raisers to support the initiatives established by the satellite club's own officers.

ClubRunner: The official database system for maintaining Rotary member profiles and recordkeeping. Member data can be accessed and edited by logging in to the member area of our parent club website at http://www.mckinneysunriserotary.org.

CR: The free ClubRunner app available for download for iOS and Android phones that provides member contact information.

Interact: Rotary International's service club for young people ages 12 to 18, usually in a school. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.

Rotaract: Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.

RYE: Rotary Youth Exchange students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students ages 15-19 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries.

RYLA: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts for high school students to develop skills as a leader. For our district, it is held during a summer camping experience at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian.

District 5810: The area of North Texas with 63 Rotary clubs in an 8 county area, headed by a District Governor, currently Beverly Grogan.

Paul Harris Fellow: The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation: The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
