A big thank you to all of you who stepped up and helped with flag duties for our first flag holiday of 2018, Memorial Day. We had 2,097 flags leased to our subscribers. For our first flag holiday, this is remarkable. Now, get ready for Flag Day to be held on June 14 for even more flags. It comes up fast. We will need your help with added new installs, renewals and fixes and then loading at the flag shed on Wednesday, June 13.
Our Program on Wednesday
Our program for Wednesday morning, May 30, will be Jackie Rakowski, who is the Executive Director of the Community Health Clinic in McKinney.
Jackie Rakowski has been the Executive Director of the Community Health Clinic since June 2015. She began at CHC as an intern in May 2013, as part of her degree in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University. After graduation, she stayed on as a volunteer learning every aspect of the clinic until June 2015, when she was asked to step in the role as Executive Director.
Jackie has 2 children, Nicholas (17 years old) and Sydney (12 years old) and 2 dogs Biscuit and Buddy. She moved to Texas 20 years ago from New Jersey and has a background in marketing, finance and sales. Growing up without health insurance has given Jackie a real-life perspective on the challenges patients face in finding affordable quality healthcare. She hopes to grow the clinic to expand services to insure we are reaching everyone in need.
The Community Health Clinic opened its doors in August 2004. A dream that began with Mary Nelle Cummins, a long-time McKinney resident, has become a medical home for thousands of patients throughout the years. Jackie believes that healthcare is a basic human need and her dedicated staff and volunteers meet the need of the low-income uninsured in the community every day.
Recognition and Induction of Officers & Directors
Put Sunday, June 17, 6:00 PM on your calendar now to attend this annual event at Mitas Hill Vineyard & Winery, 2300 Vineyard Lane, McKinney, TX 75071.
McKinney Sunset Satellite
Your satellite Rotary Club, McKinney Sunset, meets the first Thursday of the month at the Hampton Inn, 2800 N. Central Expressway at 5:30 PM to hear a great program speaker, and the third Thursday of the month for a Happy Hour at a local pub or restaurant at 5:30 PM.
They could use some more members, so if you know of a prospective Rotarian who prefers two meetings a month instead of four and reduced dues of $55 per quarter, tell them about McKinney Sunset and then pass along the information to Hal Harbor, Acting Chair, harborh@nationwide.com.
