State of The City Address
Mayor George Fuller and Mayor Pro Tem Tracy Rath will be joining us to give us an update on what is going on in McKinney and share some facts about the upcoming bond election.

George Fuller was elected Mayor of McKinney in May 2017.

Mayor Fuller is the managing construction partner for Adriatica, a 46-acre mixed-use development in McKinney. He has developed community infrastructures, retail shopping centers, condominiums, business centers and some of the most award winning and decorated homes in North Texas. Mayor Fuller has been honored with the Builder of the Year Award six years in a row by D Magazine while also receiving honors from the National Home Builder Association Awards, including “Best Craftsmanship,” “Best Overall Home,” “Best Floor Plan,” and multiple “People’s Choice” awards.

Currently, he owns The Guitar Sanctuary, a high-end guitar and music equipment boutique recently named one of the Top 20 Coolest Guitar Shops in the country by Premier Guitar magazine, along with The Sanctuary Music and Event Center and the Sanctuary Performance Academy.

Mayor Fuller serves as President of the Stonebridge Ranch Commercial Association. He and his wife, Maylee, are co-founders of the Love Life Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness of the many tragedies inflicted upon children and identifying and supporting agencies and groups that bring relief and comfort to the young victims and their families. He is also a member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and a Board Director for Meals on Wheels. He previously served as Chairman of the McKinney Community Development Corporation.

Mayor Fuller studied Business Management and Business Law at Norwich University, the nation’s oldest private military academy. He and his wife live in McKinney and have four children.

Paul Harris Fellow
recognition program.

The program acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships.

Early Paul Harris Fellows received a certificate of recognition. In 1969, the Foundation unveiled the first Paul Harris Fellow medallion at the Rotary Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Japanese metal artist Fiju Tsuda created the piece under the direction of former Foundation Trustee Kyozo Yuasa. Today, Paul Harris Fellows receive a certificate and pin. They are also eligible to buy a Paul Harris Fellow medallion.

At the International Assembly in 1979, incoming RI President James Bomar challenged each Rotary club to make one non-Rotarian a Paul Harris Fellow. The Rotary Club of Pikesville, Maryland, USA, responded by making a donation in the name of Mother Teresa in 1980. The entertainer Pearl Bailey also became a Paul Harris Fellow through a joint effort of the Rotary clubs in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Many other notable figures have been named Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and polio vaccine developer Jonas Salk.

The number of Paul Harris Fellows reached the 1 million mark in 2006.

The McKinney Sunrise Club has had 52 members earn the recognition including 20 current members.  Including in:  B. Bilyeu, J. Caserotti, P. Davis, L. Froese, S. Froese, M. Gagnon, H. Harbor, J. Jaynes, S. Kemp, T. Kocsis, C. Koehler, S. Mitas, L. Offerdahl, T. Parker, J. Smith, B. Smith, D. Snavely, N. White, B. Wright, and P. Zeigler-Petty.

Thank you all for being servant leaders and leading by example.
