Join McKinney Sunrise Rotary for breakfast this Thursday morning as we hear from McKinney Salvation Army Captains Christos and Magdalini Leveniotis. The Salvation Army of North Texas, with 131 years of expertise and covering 4,078 square miles, is the largest Salvation Army Command in the world, addressing addiction, homelessness and poverty across our cities. We’ll explore how we can become part of their solutions.

Before their deployment to the United States, they served as Lieutenants (and later Captains) running the Athens Corps in Greece. During their time in Athens, they spearheaded several prominent humanitarian initiatives. Notably, they launched "The Meeting Point" project in March 2022 to provide aid, sewing lessons, and social integration for refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. They also organized the local Angel Tree initiative, partnering with international embassies and schools to bring Christmas gifts to children in need.

Last year, our community came together to create a beautiful tribute to those who served our country. Because of your support, we are proud to bring back the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Veterans Day Flag Fundraiser for a second year.
This Veterans Day, honor a veteran in your life with a $50 donation. A United States flag will be displayed in their honor, and their name will be featured on our Banner of Honor alongside a breathtaking field of American flags at Cpl. R.D. Foster Veterans Memorial Park in McKinney.
The flags will be displayed from October 31 through November 14, serving as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, courage, and service of our nation's veterans.
The City of McKinney Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at Cpl. R.D. Foster Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday Nov. 7, at 11:00 a.m., providing an opportunity for our community to gather and pay tribute to those who have served.
Most importantly, your donation does more than honor a veteran. It helps support the ongoing service projects of the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club, with all net proceeds benefiting Smiles Charity, a 501(c)(3) McKinney-based nonprofit organization that provides mortgage-free homes for wounded veterans and their families.
